Tactics
in Counter-Strike |
In this section I'm going to describe how to handle
weapons, I won't go in details of tactics for each map, instead I will try
to describe my experience with weaponary.

MAC-10
|
Mac 10 is widely unpopular weapon amongst CS
players. If this gun is used in the same manner as other rifles (mp5,
colt, sig552, ...) the results won't be good. This gun has two main
advantages: 1st - low price, 2nd - high rate of fire. Main
drawbacks are great recoil (which can be used in your advantage)
and bad accuracy. High rate of fire makes MAC10 very
powefull close combat weapon. Combining all these features you come to
this tactic: 1st rule is never to use MAC10 on any ranges but close
range (MAC10 is best to be combined with Desert Eagle for long
range weapon and when you run out of ammo). Always try to pick routes with
short lines of sight. When you meet enemy RUN AT HIM (NOT in
straight line) and try to aim at the neck area (or a bit lower) and the
recoil will make you hit enemy in the head. Head shots are very common
when using MAC10 at close range. Always keep moving. Alway try to
close in on enemy then go for the head. If you run out of ammo don't wait
for reload. Draw you Desert Eagle and finnish off what your MAC10
couldn't :)

M3 Super Shotgun
|
This weapon is very rarely used because it takes realy
special tactics to use with this one and is not good as all around weapon.
There are two good features of this gun: 1st - low price, 2nd - heavy
damage. But it has one big drawback - very slow reload which makes this
gun very unpopular. To make best use of this gun is to follow this tactic:
never engage to 1 on 1 combat. You'll loose. Rather use this gun as a
support weapon. Stay behind your team mates (or have automatic weapon
cover) and use hit and run tactic. What this means is that you find
a position where you can shoot at enemy and immediately fall behind a
cover. Much like with AWP/M you are vulnerable during reloads and if you
meet an opponent eye-on-eye your shot must hit, preferably close
range in the head. Opponent will take massive damage. It is even possible
to kill with one shot from M3.
Just remember one thing - hit and run. This is not an assault weapon, this
is a support weapon.

AK-47
|
Kalashnikov can be very good gun if you know how to handle
it, or it can be a real bitch if you use it like other rifles (M4A1, SiG,
AUG). You must never fire at full burst, although it seems and
sounds cool. AK-47's first shoot is very accurate, while all others
spray out in all directions. Full burst can be effective at realy close
range, otherwise it's just a waste of ammo. Shoot 1,2 or 3 bullets
bursts then wait until you gain back accuracy (which you lost because of
recoil). While waiting - jump on spot or hide behind an obstacle,
whatever suits you best.
If you get stuck in recoil and you can't wait for recoil to cool off, you
are left with two options:
- either you draw your secondary weapon or
- aim at target's feet and pray your luck that you hit him ;)
Remember one thing - aim for the head and you will probably kill your
opponent with one shot. Good things about AK-47 are low price and
great damage that inflicts (like all standard rifles).

AWP (Arctic Warfare Magnum)
|
AWP can be a real killer but a hard to handle weapon. 1st
rule of using AWP - keep distance from enemy. AWP can even be used
as a close combat weapon but it is very hard to hit an experienced player
at close combat. The most useful magnification is the first one. (1x zoom).
2x zoom is for realy distant targets (de_jeepathlon is a map where you
could use 2x zoom). If you dont know where the enemy is, unzoom, scan the
area and when you find him make a zoom on him. When firing with AWP stand
still otherwise you wont hit anything. DONT shoot at the first sight of
the enemy. Follow him with your crosshair and press fire when you are
sure to hit him, otherwise you'll keep reloading and he'll just get
close to you.
One of the most important things with using AWP is a steady hand.
If your hand is not calm and relaxed you'll be lucky to hit anything.
To become a good sniper takes time and patience.

MP5
|
Relation between price and efficiency is the best at this
gun, except for, maybe, AK-47. While it's ammo is not very powerful, it
offers high rate of fire with great accuracy. Again you must not full
burst with this gun, rather use small bursts (3-6 ammo rounds). The MP5 is
very accurate even at long ranges as long as you don't burst. It
perservs its accuracy even when the shooter is moving, so it is best to be
used moving and firing short bursts. My favorite.
